The present invention provides an improved self-inking stamp of the type as described which is highly effective and which can be worn and operated in a manner whereby the contents are sealed inside of the stamp prior to use.
In a specific form of the present invention, the self-inking stamp is in the form of a decorative, generally cylindrical body having a cylindrical outwardly extending body portion with a flat top surface and a pair of diametrically opposite edges. In this regard, the body portion is receivable within an aperture in a pointed end of a cap so that the cap can be removably secured to the body. A piston, which is axially movable, is carried by a piston rod which is secured in telescoping relationship to the body portion. The piston rod is axially movable in the body by means of a spring which is carried by the piston rod and a bracket secured to the body. A one-way valve is carried by the body and a cap and secured to the body. A one-way valve spring is provided to normally bias the one-way valve to a closed position. In this regard, a pivotable valve head is carried by the valve to seal the valve in the closed position when the one-way valve is not actuated. In this regard, a rigid pressure rod is secured to the body and extends through the one-way valve into the cap so that the pressure rod can be selectively depressed to urge the valve head to an open position when the one-way valve is in the closed position. Accordingly, when the pressure rod is depressed, the sealing member carried by the valve head can be moved away from a sealing surface to permit the contents to exit and flow from the stamp through an outlet opening formed in the cap and onto the back of the cap.
