I’m making an ArcBall (or Ball) program in OpenGL and having a few issues. I’m using DirectX and therefore have access to more functions, but I’d like to stick to OpenGL if I can.
The problem I am running into is that I need to have shadow maps for this application and currently my shadow map shader is made up of one single uniform: a float “u_flux”. It gets the current ray coordinates, as well as the surface coordinates, and then computes a normal vector based on those two points, and the length of the ray. Then I use the cross product to get a ray perpendicular to that normal, and finally multiply the shadow map (using the orthonormal vectors) with the shadow map to get the shadowed result. The problem is that I want to use multiple shadows, and since I can only have one uniform (the shadow map shader) I am forced to make the shadow map uniform. Then I have an extra uniform “uniform float shadow” that gets multiplied by the shadow map to compute the shadowed result. This works okay, but I’d like to move away from having the shadow map uniform. I’d like to pass the shadow map to the shader somehow, but the shadow map shader requires the depth to be zero so I can’t tell the shader that I am passing in a shadow

The incidence of renal cell carcinoma in patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) has increased in the last 20 years. The characteristics of such tumors remain unknown. In this study, we describe the data from the North Eastern Italian Tumor Registry (NEItR). From the NEItR we identified all patients with AAA and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) between 1990 and 2006. Patients with other primary tumor and patients with a follow-up of less than 1 year were excluded. A total of 66 patients, including 40 men and 26 women, were identified. The median age of these patients at the time of RCC diagnosis was 75 years (range, 57-92 years). A total of 26 patients (40%) were asymptomatic at diagnosis and 12 patients (18%) were treated for metastases. The median time of follow-up was 3.1 years (range, 0-13.8 years). The overall 5-year, disease-specific and cancer-specific survival rate of the 66 patients was 54.5%, 38.8% and 70.4%, respectively. Of the 30 patients who underwent complete tumor resection, 24 (80%) had no recurrence, 4 (13%) a local recurrence, and 2 (7%) distant metastases at the end of the follow-up. For the 36 patients who underwent palliative resection, 8 (22%) had no disease progression, 5 (14%) a local recurrence, and 8 (22%) distant metastases.
