History of AutoCAD
1983: AutoCAD 1.0 is released
AutoCAD was developed by John Walker and a team at the SolidWorks Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts. AutoCAD is the first commercially successful CAD software application for the personal computer. AutoCAD is a visual computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) application for personal computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system. AutoCAD can be used as a desktop application, workstation, or client/server tool. The first version of AutoCAD was released in December of 1983. AutoCAD 1.0 is compatible with the Apple II, IBM PC/AT, and X11/PC+ operating systems.

1984: The first AutoCAD for Windows sold at $500
AutoCAD was the first commercially successful CAD program for Windows. AutoCAD for Windows was released in 1984 and later that year AutoCAD 1.1 was released.
1985: AutoCAD 2.0 released
AutoCAD 2.0 was the first release of AutoCAD for the Mac and was compatible with the Apple IIe and IIc, and Macintosh II series.
1986: AutoCAD 3.0 released
AutoCAD 3.0 was released for the Apple II, IBM PC/AT, Macintosh II, X11, and the XDS Operating System. The 1988 release of AutoCAD 3.5 made AutoCAD a software package with MSDOS compatibility.
1990: AutoCAD 4.0 released
AutoCAD 4.0 was a major revision of AutoCAD and was released in 1990. The release was renamed Autodesk AutoCAD 4.0, and the product was renamed Autodesk Inventor 4.0. AutoCAD 4.0, first shipped on disk as an Office Application (OAD), and later also shipped in a shrinkwrapped retail box. The product name was changed to Autodesk AutoCAD 3

Programming Languages
AutoCAD supports a number of programming languages including: AutoLISP, Visual LISP, VBA, C#, C++, Delphi, Java,.NET and ObjectARX.
AutoLISP
AutoLISP is a declarative, functional, and Lisp-like programming language. AutoLISP is also known as AutoLISP, while AutoCAD refers to AutoLISP as AutoCAD LISP. When used in conjunction with the CACS system, AutoLISP may be used to program control of AutoCAD objects. AutoLISP may be used as a scripting language for AutoCAD, and in conjunction with CACS it may be used to program control of AutoCAD objects.
Visual LISP
Visual LISP is a LISP-like programming language designed for programming applications for use with AutoCAD. It may also be used to program AutoCAD objects, and is the most commonly used scripting language for AutoCAD. Visual LISP has a few advantages over AutoLISP. The most obvious is that Visual LISP is a general-purpose programming language with control structures that are more familiar to most programmers.
AutoCAD’s Visual LISP language was originally named “Visual LISP”. It was renamed to “Visual LISP” in 1999. The renaming was to distinguish Visual LISP from the other, older, programming language named Visual LISP. Visual LISP was introduced with AutoCAD in the release of AutoCAD LT 5 in 1996.
VBA
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is an application programming interface (API) built into the Windows operating system. It was developed to enhance the Microsoft Office productivity suite and is available for a variety of applications. This API was developed to allow the programmer to code user-defined procedures that can manipulate any data type (objects, charts, drawings, reports etc.) found in the program. VBA is also a general purpose programming language, but has many limitations. These limitations include:
While VBA may be used to program a variety of AutoCAD objects, such as command prompts, AutoCAD does not directly support VBA in the AutoCAD application. VBA requires use of an external application such as AutoCAD, the Microsoft Office suite or Microsoft Excel.

Eliminating string from a list that has a white space
I’m creating a function that adds the first letter of each word in a sentence as a prefix for later use.
def setPrefix(name):
prefix = []
string = str(name)
list = string.split()
for word in list:
prefix.append(word[0])
return prefix
As the output shows, the first two words in the string are “hello”, but the output is still “helloworld”. How would I modify this to eliminate any string that has a white space in it.
A:
Python has a method for that, split:
string.split(‘ ‘)
This does exactly what you want, it splits the string on all the whitespace, but returns a list that does not have a trailing newline character. You can do this:
string.split(‘ ‘)[0]
Or:
string.split(‘ ‘)[1:]
The former returns just the first item of the list. The latter returns all but the last element of the list.
Also note that you probably want string.split() instead of string.split() – the former is far more efficient at splitting a string – string.split() is quite slow.
A:
You can use string.split() which removes the trailing
from the resulting list, or you can use a regular expression like re.split() to split by
What’s New In AutoCAD?
Import multiple views for different parts or processes into your drawings. (video: 1:44 min.)
Create scalable annotation templates that automatically attach to existing drawings and automatically scale with changes in the host drawing. (video: 2:00 min.)
Enhance your drawings with fine control over rendering, shadows, and lights. Integrate lighting from Microsoft Azure or use the existing lighting tools that come with AutoCAD. (video: 2:03 min.)
Enhance your drawing with new and improved Navigator controls. You can create, link, and save additional sheets and parts from within the Navigator. You can also create and embed interactive navigation and alignment tools. (video: 3:43 min.)
Keep a consistent look-and-feel to your drawings with the new print styles dialog. Choose the look-and-feel of your printing and the units you want to display. Print the annotation templates directly from the host drawing as well as the 3D models you place in your drawings. (video: 3:27 min.)
Annotation Browser:
Explore annotations on the screen as easily as in the 3D Modeling workspace. The new display options and search filters enable you to filter annotation types to see specific annotation types. You can even see the color of the annotation. (video: 1:23 min.)
Transparency can now be displayed for annotated objects. You can also make it easily invisible again. (video: 1:21 min.)
You can now apply your own annotations or layout styles to your AutoCAD objects, which enables you to easily navigate between your annotations and objects in the workspace. (video: 2:08 min.)
You can quickly navigate directly to the object you want to work with. The outline of the AutoCAD object you’re looking for is drawn on screen, and you can move and zoom to the target location. (video: 2:26 min.)
The editor can automatically save annotations you’ve created and those you’ve imported from PDF and images. (video: 2:25 min.)
New options to customize how the display of annotations works. (video: 2:24 min.)
Align. is a simple and powerful solution that enables you to align and control the position of annotations or objects in your drawing. (video: 2:44 min.)
