I’m a novice using both the ASP.NET Output Caching and Async features of ASP.NET. My goal is to have a user log into a web app and have some stuff displayed that the person just did. I have all my database queries set to run asynchronously, and then I have a label that holds my results. This all works great, and for the most part, it displays properly.
But here’s the catch. If the user gets hit, for some reason, within 5 seconds of logging in, their result gets delayed, and they think their work has been completed. I have a 20 second delay set on the label, but if they are only 1 second in, it appears to be good to go even though I’m really not seeing that.
So my question is this: Is it true to say that output caching will still kick in, even if it’s one second past the expiration time? Or is the output caching not even going to kick in if the system is operating asynchronously?
