How do I suppress duplicate code in an object-oriented design?

Suppose you have an object that holds data about an object in a set that has a unique identifier. The object also checks whether or not there are already two objects in the set with the same identifier. How do you write the most general and most maintainable code in the objects that do this object-oriented design?
Do you create a common class that all the objects can inherit from, and then all the objects can get the methods to check if there is another object with the same identifier as them? Or do you create a different common class, and then derive different classes from that common class for each object and then the objects can implement the methods in the common class? And finally, do you create a method in the common class that all objects can call that implements the checking for multiple objects with the same identifier?
The reason I’m asking is that I am having some difficulty in making these object-oriented design decisions. I have two objects that are both similar enough that I could create two classes for them. And then I have another object that I could create two classes for, but they really aren’t similar enough so that I could just create a base class and derive from it. Then I have some classes that are only similar enough that I might be able to create a base class for them and inherit from it.
So how do I make these design decisions? If I am going to create a new class to do this object-oriented design, how do I decide which subclass to create? And what is the most general and most maintainable code in the objects that do this object-oriented design? Or what is the best coding practices, according to the DRY principle?

A:

You can stop worrying about these questions. If you keep your code simple and don’t try to reinvent the wheel, the answers will come. The following are good strategies (in no particular order):
Objects are peers; classes are just friends
Rather than have a common base class for all of your objects, let each one derive from a different base class.

SQLite RowCount as a table

I have a table mytable1 with columns column1, column2, column3.
Using a statement like:
SELECT column1, column2, column3 from mytable1 limit 0,10

or
SELECT count(*) from mytable1

gets me a table like this:
column1 column2 column3

and I want to get the table with the data as a single row instead of a table with columns:
column1 column2 column3

What I want is something like:
column1 column2 column3
rowCount

So basically I’m looking for a solution to get the table as a single row instead of a table. A solution in SQLite would be great.

A:

you can use row_number() function.
SELECT row_number() OVER(ORDER BY column1) FROM mytable1

here is the official docs on row_number() function:
Another option is to create two queries and union them.
SELECT column1, column2, column3 from mytable1 limit 0,10
UNION ALL
SELECT ‘rowCount’ as column1, row_number() OVER(ORDER BY column1) as column2, 0 as column3

and you will get your desired result as below.
